In the ancient times, Aravali hills were extremely high. The Aravali hills have stopped growing higher due to the cessation thrust caused by the tectonic plates in the Earth’s crust below them.

The Aravali hill range joins two of the ancient Earth’s crust segments that make up the greater Indian craton.
